Further Discworld Stuff: Nerdery & Philately
Discworld Stamps and Coins
I'm not sure if you all know this, but I'm outing myself: I'm a closet coin collector and philatelist. Judge me if you will!
I've been casually collecting coins and stamps for 20+ years. My collections are entirely based on stumbling upon things that strike my fancy. This means the stamp collection runs high in astronauts, while the coin collection includes several tokens from a game room. Obviously, not in this for the re-sale value.
The Discworld stamps are so well-designed! And perforated and gummed! Terry and Bernard Pearson designed them for Going Postal. They're now part of the Philatelic Department of the British Library, a division of the British Museum.
(They said it had nothing to do with the head of the department being a huge Discworld fan.)
My signed copy of Good Omens
There's probably no accurate analogy I could make for meeting someone I've been a fan of since junior high. Terry Pratchett is very amiable and approachable and hilarious, but still I managed to mostly mumble at him and tell him "Thank you!" several times.
Still, pretty great - I'm so glad I went. Shew. Back to normal crafting now!
